The TWAS-DFG Cooperation Visits Programme provides grants to enable scientists from sub-Saharan Africa to visit research groups in Germany for a period of 3 months. The programme supports visits aimed at initiating new research collaborations or strengthening existing ones. It covers travel expenses and a monthly stipend. The call for applications for 2026 is usually launched in March/April each year, with a deadline in May/June.
Eligibility Criteria
Scientists from developing countries (including all African countries) who hold a PhD and are working in a field of natural sciences. Applicants must hold a research position in their home country. The visit must be to a research group in Germany. The program aims to foster new collaborations or strengthen existing ones. Applicants must be from sub-Saharan Africa.
Financial Benefits
Fully funded, covering international airfare, visa costs, and a monthly stipend to cover living expenses in Germany. The German host institution covers research costs.
