The Mitacs Globalink Research Internship is a competitive initiative for international undergraduate students from select countries to undertake a 12-week research internship at a Canadian university. Interns gain research experience, work with faculty members, and explore Canada's innovative research landscape. The program includes a research project, professional development workshops, and social activities. The application period for the 2027 program is expected to open around May-June 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
Undergraduate students from eligible countries (including many African countries like Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tunisia, etc.) who are enrolled in a full-time degree program and have at least one semester remaining after the internship. Must have a strong academic record (e.g., 80% or A average). English proficiency required. Specific country eligibility varies, applicants should check if their country is listed. Open to international students from Africa.
Financial Benefits
Fully funded, including a stipend for living expenses, round-trip airfare to Canada, health insurance, and accommodation assistance. The award value is approximately CAD $10,000-$15,000.
