Eligibility
•Applicants for PhD programmes must hold a Master's degree or an outstanding Bachelor's degree from a recognized university.
•Applicants for Master's programmes must hold a recognized Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
•Demonstrated strong academic record and research potential.
•Proof of English proficiency (e.g., TOEFL iBT score of 80+, IELTS overall band score of 6.0+ with no band below 5.5, or CET-6 score of 430+, depending on programme requirements).
•Specific faculty or programme prerequisites as defined by the respective academic unit.
•Candidates must be admitted to full-time postgraduate study at the University of Macau.
Details
The Graduate School (GRS) of the University of Macau (UM) offers a wide range of PhD, Master's, and postgraduate certificate programmes across multiple disciplines. Outstanding doctoral applicants are eligible for prestigious funding schemes, notably the UM Macao PhD Scholarship (MPDS) and UM PhD Assistantships, designed to attract top-tier global academic talent. Master's students may also receive funding through postgraduate assistantships and tuition reduction schemes.
Financial Benefits
•UM Macao PhD Scholarship (MPDS): Monthly stipend of MOP 20,000 for up to 4 years.
•Conference or research-related travel allowance of up to MOP 30,000 per academic year for MPDS recipients.
•UM PhD Assistantship: Monthly stipend ranging from MOP 12,500 to MOP 14,000 for up to 4 years.
•Tuition fee waiver or partial tuition assistance depending on merit and programme scheme.
•Master's Assistantships providing teaching or research support stipends.
