The Research Explorer Ruhr (RER) is a two-week summer program hosted by the Research Academy Ruhr, the cross-university platform for early career researchers of the University Alliance Ruhr. The program invites international researchers to explore the research landscape of the Ruhr area. Participants have the opportunity to meet potential supervisors, exchange ideas with research groups, and get to know the three universities. The schedule includes workshops on postdoc funding and career planning in Germany, as well as networking events and cultural excursions. Program dates: June 16–29, 2024.
Eligibility Criteria
International doctoral researchers who are in the final phase of their doctorate. Early postdoctoral researchers (up to 2 years after obtaining the doctorate). Candidates must not currently be living in Germany. Open to all research fields offered by the University Alliance Ruhr (Ruhr-Universität Bochum, TU Dortmund University, University of Duisburg-Essen).
Financial Benefits
Travel stipend to cover travel expenses (amount depends on the country of origin). Accommodation is provided for the duration of the stay. Public transport ticket for the Ruhr area is included. Catering (meals) is provided during the program events. Visa fees are reimbursed.
