Applicants must be international students.

Must meet the ANU PhD admission requirements (e.g., Bachelor's degree with first-class honours or equivalent, or a Master's degree with a significant research component).

Must not have already commenced a PhD at ANU unless applying for a change of program.

Open to all nationalities, including African students.

The ANU PhD Scholarship is a highly competitive scholarship awarded to outstanding domestic and international students undertaking a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program at the Australian National University. The scholarship provides a living stipend and tuition fee coverage. ANU typically has two main application rounds for international students each year. For the 2027 intake, Round 2 applications are expected to close in October 2026. Applicants are encouraged to identify potential supervisors and develop a research proposal prior to applying.
