Details
The University of Sheffield announces the 2026 Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust Masters Scholarships for international students from developing countries. These scholarships cover full tuition fees and provide a maintenance stipend of £12,500 for selected candidates.
When is the Application Deadline:
- Friday, 15 May 2026 (shortlisting)
- Final application form submission by Monday, 1 June 2026 (1pm UK time)
The scholarships are offered in partnership with the Sheffield Institute for International Development and aim to support academically strong individuals committed to international development.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be classified as overseas for tuition fee purposes.
- Be nationals of, or permanently domiciled in, a low or lower-middle-income country (World Bank classification).
- Not already hold a qualification equivalent to or higher than the course applied for.
- Not have previously studied outside their country of residence.
- Be self-funded (not sponsored by government, research council, or private enterprise).
- Apply for full-time study beginning September 2026.
- Meet all conditions of their course offer and secure a UK student visa.
Which Fields are Eligible?
Applicants must hold an offer for one of the following postgraduate courses at Sheffield for the 2026–27 academic year:
- International Development MA
- Environmental Change and International Development MSc
- International Development (Masters in Public Health) MPH
- International Law and Global Justice LLM
- International Political Economy MA
- Global Journalism MA
- International Public and Political Communication MA
Which Countries Are Eligible?
- Nationals of low or lower-middle-income countries as classified by the World Bank (e.g., Nigeria, Ghana, India, Pakistan, Kenya, Bangladesh, etc.).
