Eligibility Criteria
- First, all international students and global researchers can apply. Nationals of Germany and Brazil cannot apply.
- Next, postdoctoral researchers must have completed a PhD/doctoral degree within the last 4 years. This ensures they qualify for the fellowship.
- Additionally, experienced researchers must have completed their PhD degree or equivalent academic qualification within the last 12 years. They must also have an established academic and research profile.
- Furthermore, applicants must be fluent in English language. Knowing German language or basic German skills gives an added advantage for research in Germany.
- In addition, applicants must not have lived in Germany for more than six months within the last 18 months. This ensures fresh research eligibility for the Humboldt Fellowship.
- Finally, applicants who already received sponsorship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation cannot apply. This maintains the program’s fairness and diversity.
Financial Benefits
- First, the Humboldt fellowship provides all postdoctoral researchers with a fully funded fellowship. They also receive a monthly stipend of €2,670 to cover living and research expenses.
