The Zayed Sustainability Prize is the UAE's pioneering global award in sustainability and a tribute to the legacy of the late founding father of the UAE, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Established in 2008, the Prize recognizes and rewards organizations and high schools that demonstrate impactful, innovative, and inspiring sustainability solutions. The Prize aims to drive sustainable development and humanitarian action by funding projects that improve lives across the globe.
Eligibility Criteria
•Open to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)
•Open to Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs)
•Open to High Schools worldwide (under the Global High Schools category)
•Projects must align with one of the five sustainability categories: Health, Food, Energy, Water, and Climate Action
•Submissions are evaluated based on three core criteria: Impact, Innovation, and Inspiration
•Organizations must demonstrate a clear vision and long-term plan for the project
•Not open to individuals (personal applicants) unless representing an organization or school
Financial Benefits
•Total annual prize fund of US $5.9 million
•US $600,000 awarded to each winner in the Health, Food, Energy, Water, and Climate Action categories
•US $600,000 total fund allocated for the Global High Schools category
•Up to US $100,000 awarded to each winning high school (one from each of the 6 world regions) to implement their project
•Global recognition and networking opportunities with sustainability leaders
