Details

The Champions of the Earth is the United Nations' highest environmental honor. It recognizes outstanding leaders from government, civil society, and the private sector whose actions have a transformative impact on the environment. The award celebrates those who are taking bold action to address the triple planetary crisis of climate change, nature and biodiversity loss, and pollution and waste.

Eligibility Criteria

Open to individuals, groups, and organizations from all over the world
Nominees must demonstrate outstanding contributions to the protection and sustainable management of the environment
Nominations must align with one of the award categories: Policy Leadership, Inspiration and Action, Entrepreneurial Vision, or Science and Innovation
Candidates must have a proven track record of environmental impact (typically at least 3 years)
Self-nominations are not permitted; candidates must be nominated by a third party
