Details

The Loughborough Development Trust Africa Scholarship is funded by alumni and friends of the University. It is designed to support students from Africa who demonstrate exceptional academic potential but require financial assistance to study in the UK. The scholarship is highly competitive. Successful applicants will be expected to become ambassadors for the University and the scholarship programme.

Eligibility Criteria

Must have received a conditional or unconditional offer for a full-time postgraduate taught programme at Loughborough University for the October 2025 intake.
Must be a citizen of an African country.
Must be currently domiciled (permanently living) in Africa.
Must possess high academic credentials (equivalent to a UK first-class or upper second-class honours degree).
Must show evidence of the ability and commitment to make a significant contribution to their home country upon completion of the course.
Must demonstrate financial need and that they would not be able to attend without this funding.
Must not be currently studying in a developed country.

Financial Benefits

Covers 100% of the course fees for the chosen postgraduate taught course.
Note: The scholarship does NOT cover living costs, accommodation, travel, or visa expenses. Applicants must provide evidence of their ability to cover these costs (maintenance requirement) to obtain a visa.
