The Manaaki New Zealand Scholarships are a government-funded initiative designed to build future leaders from developing countries. The programme offers full scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate study in New Zealand. The scholarships target specific sectors relevant to the development needs of the partner countries, such as Climate Change, Food Security, Renewable Energy, and Governance. Scholars are expected to return home after their studies to contribute to their country's development.

Eligibility Criteria

Must be a citizen of an eligible country (from Pacific, Asia, Africa, Caribbean, or Latin America regions)
Must be 18 years of age or older at the start of the scholarship
Must have resided in your home country for at least two years immediately prior to commencing the scholarship
Must not be a citizen or permanent resident of New Zealand or Australia
Must meet the academic entry requirements (including English language proficiency) for the proposed programme of study
For postgraduate applicants: Must have relevant work experience (usually 1 year full-time or 2 years part-time)
Must commit to return to your home country for a minimum of two years after completing the scholarship to contribute to its development
Must meet the immigration requirements for a student visa to New Zealand

Financial Benefits

Full tuition fees
Living allowance (stipend) of NZ$531 per week to help with living expenses
Establishment allowance of NZ$3,000 to assist with setup costs in New Zealand
Medical insurance while in New Zealand
Travel to and from your home country at the start and end of the scholarship
Travel insurance
Research and thesis allowance for postgraduate students (where applicable)
Tutoring costs up to NZ$1,000 if required
Reintegration allowance to assist with settling back into the home country
