The Wells Mountain Initiative (WMI) Scholars Program targets highly motivated students in developing nations who demonstrate financial need. The program focuses on fields of study that benefit the local community, such as medicine, nursing, health sciences, engineering, education, and social work. A unique aspect of this scholarship is the requirement for scholars to complete 100 hours of community service per year.

Eligibility Criteria

Completed secondary education, with excellent to very good grades
35 years old or under on March 1
Will be studying in their country or another developing country
Pursuing a first bachelor’s degree or diploma
Will be enrolled in a program of study that will benefit the community and/or contribute to the continued growth and advancement of their home country
Planned entry date is no later than the semester following the award
Demonstrated financial need

Financial Benefits

Scholarship amounts range from $300 USD to $3,000 USD annually
The average scholarship amount is $1,500 USD
Covers tuition and fees
Covers books and materials
Covers room rent and meals
Note: This is a partial scholarship and does not cover 100% of educational costs
