EASE has officially launched a Digital Skills & AI Literacy Training Programme in Basse, Upper River Region, aimed at strengthening youth employability and responsible technology use. The initiative equips young people with essential digital competencies, including computer fundamentals, internet navigation, online safety, and an introduction to safe and ethical use of Artificial Intelligence tools.

The six-month programme will train 50 young people in its first cohort through structured, hands-on sessions delivered by trained facilitators. In addition to technical skills, participants will learn how to critically evaluate online information, protect their personal data, manage digital wellbeing, and avoid common online risks such as misinformation and harmful content.

As digital technologies continue to shape education and employment opportunities, EASE recognises the importance of ensuring that rural youth are not left behind. This programme supports participants in accessing online learning platforms, exploring digital entrepreneurship opportunities, and building confidence in using technology responsibly.

“Digital literacy today goes beyond knowing how to use a computer,” said the Programme Coordinator. “Young people must understand how to use technology safely, think critically about information, and protect their wellbeing in digital spaces.”

The initiative forms part of EASE’s Education & Capacity Building Programme and reflects the organisation’s commitment to preparing youth for an increasingly digital and AI-driven world. The programme is made possible through the continued support of partners and donors who share our vision of inclusive, future-ready communities.
